OLAM Donates 50 Conference Chairs to Dunkwa Nursing School

Dunkwa, C/R, November 6, GNA – OLAM Ghana Limited has donated 50 conference chairs worth GH¢5,000 to the Dunkwa Nursing and Health Assistants Training School to improve its furniture situation.

 

The company last year donated 100 students beds to the school, which provided sleeping comfort to 100 students.

 

Presenting the chairs on behalf of the company, the visiting Vice President of Sourcing and Development of TCHO, a Chocolate Manufacturing firm in the United States of America, commended Ghana for putting quality cocoa on the international market.

 

“Ghana has high quality cocoa”, he said, adding that, with the traceable cocoa project being introduced it would promote sustainable cocoa production and thereby enhance the income of farmers for a better living.

 

Mr. Kennedy Ntoso, Head of OLAM Traceable Cocoa, indicated that the company was very committed to its corporate social responsibility.

 

He said : "We get from our business from Ghana, we want our operational areas to also benefit,” he said, adding, “We invest in education so as to guarantee the future of our children.”

 

Mr. Ntoso said the future of this country depended on the youth and that was why the Company had passion in supporting the growth of education in the communities they were operating.

 

The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School, Mr. Kwaku Addae-Gyambrah, commended OLAM Ghana for the support it was providing towards the development of the school.

 

He, however, appealed to OLAM Ghana to assist in solving part of the infrastructural needs of the school.  “We want OLAM Ghana to assist the school in this area and also with the conservation of water through the provision of polytanks to serve the students at their various hostels.”

 

The Municipal Director of Education and a Board Member, Mrs. Agnes Boakye, said she had great passion for kindergarten education and therefore showered praises on OLAM Ghana for constructing a school block at Kwame Duakrom in the Upper Denkyira East Municipal to promote kindergarten education in the area.

 

Miss Elizabeth Adams, a tutor, who received the chairs on behalf of the Principal, said the day she reported in the school, she met students beds with inscription, ‘donated by OLAM’ which most of the students had customized as theirs.

 

She commended the company for its contribution and appealed to the management to continue to support the school.

 

Nana Ntire Twum Barimah, the Krontihene of Denkyira Traditional Council urged OLAM Ghana to enter into partnership with the school authorities for the systematic growth of the school in the area of infrastructure and other teaching and learning facilities.
