NO. I am not an HR expert or a MakeOver Specialist.
My interest began in HR as a Headhunter in '93 when I went for a lecture presentation by a Hewitt PhD about 'Predictive Techniques in Recruitment' . It continued. I liked the Base Questions in NHRDN like ' Why People behave the way they do?' .
In our B School we took a project on a very large company going thru a violent strike and came out with a finding that " People bring the Behaviour of their surroundings and Re-create it at the Workplace too!" It was fun !
Over the years, I Selected, Recruited, Inducted, Trained, Coached and Mentored many and got Coached by very Senior Executive Coaches. My interest in the subject continued. I liked the 'Strengthsfinder' book by Marcus Buckingham and the technique used.
Now, I feel, sometimes very strongly that the time has come for HR to 'Reform, Change, Reconstruct and Re-shape itself'. My first PSU MD was a Ex Harvard Professor and he changed the function Personnel Management and IR into Human Resources Department and said the first thing to know is HRD = Humane ! I wish it was as I learnt over the course of next 30 years of Corporate life that HRD wasn't 'Humane' at all. And that's my personal opinion.
Let us look at the Two words today, that I have been picking up this year for Provoking Thought. The first one in today's email by Business Dictionary.com was :Term of the Day

-John Doerr, Kleiner Perkins.
Bottomline - May be it is time for HR Experts to take a Sabbatical and break from the profession for a Month, Quarter or a Year and Develop a Humane Reserve System ( No I won't ask for a Copyright on this term) and RePosition HR. Trust me, when I say this - your presence will be least felt by business if you take this well deserved break ! Come back in the New Form and you may even become an Equal Business Partner in the C Suite ! Amen !
