In the august presence of Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu in a programme held today at Rail Bhawan today i.e. 14th July, 2016 an agreement was signed between Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited and Bansal Group for the redevelopment and modernization of Habibganj Railway Station located in Bhopal, M.P. The Habibganj station would now be the first station to be redevelopment and this station is one of the eight such railway stations which have been allocated to IRSDC by the Ministry of Railways. Government of India and ADB Sign US $ 100 Million Loan for 'Climate Adaptation in Vennar Subbasin of Cauvery Delta project' in Tamil Nadu

The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) today signed a $100 million loan agreement to strengthen key irrigation and drainage system and improve water management in the Vennar sub-basin of the Cauvery delta in Tamil Nadu. The financing will be used to strengthen embankments of six major irrigation water channels in the Vennar system and rehabilitate 13 irrigation pumping schemes. “The Cauvery river basin is a critical source of water for agriculture, both within Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. During the course of meetings and seminars held in different parts of the country, various stakeholders have expressed concern that the time period available under the Scheme up to 30th November, 2016 for making payment of tax, surcharge and penalty is very short, especially where funds in liquid form are not readily available with the declarants. Ministry of Power has undertaken several reforms measures to ease the process of ‘Getting Electricity’ over a period of last two years. The Government has made it mandatory to provide electricity connection within fifteen days to the consumers in normal conditions. A simplified procedure for getting electricity connection has been adopted after detailed discussions with Delhi and Maharashtra Discoms and other concerned agencies. Kamarajar Port Limited has signed a Concession Agreement with M/s. SIOTL for modification of its iron ore terminal so that it can handle common user coal. The decision for modification of the terminal was taken against the backdrop of the ban on export of iron ore by the State Government of Karnataka and the Hon’ble Supreme Court. The official Wholesale Price Index for ‘All Commodities’ (Base: 2004-05=100) for the month of June, 2016 rose by 1.4 percent to 182.0 (provisional) from 179.4 (provisional) for the previous month. *INFLATION* The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 1.62% (provisional) for the month of June, 2016 (over June, 2015) as compared to 0.79% (provisional) for the previous month and -2.13% during the corresponding month of the previous year.
