Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched 20 satellites in a single launch mission onboard Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle ‘PSLV-C34’ on June 22, 2016 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. In this mission, 17 foreign satellites (total weighing 555 kg) from 4 countries viz. ‘Open Sky Policy’ agreement with SAARC countries

As per National Civil Aviation Policy 2016, Government has planned to enter into an 'Open Sky' Air Service Agreement on a reciprocal basis with SAARC countries and countries with territory located entirely beyond a 5000 km radius from New Delhi. Unlimited flights above the existing bilateral rights will be allowed directly to and from major airports within the country as notified by the Government time to time. As per Bureau of Indian Standards [IS-1893 (Part- 1): 2002], based on the past seismic history, Delhi lies in Zone-IV that has fairly high seismicity where the general occurrence of earthquakes is of 5-6 magnitude and occasionally of higher magnitude. Delhi lies among the high-risk areas. A state-of-the-art 16 station Seismic Telemetry System is already in operation by National Centre for Seismology (NCS) to detect and locate earthquakes in and around Delhi. Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning (SITC) of first phase of C-AFTM project has been awarded with a total estimated cost of Rs.107Crores. Prediction for above average Rainfall during Monsoon

During the current year (2016), above normal rainfall has been predicted by India Meteorological Department (IMD) as per the following: Quantitatively, the monsoon seasonal rainfall is likely to be 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA) with a model error of ± 5%. The LPA of the seasonal rainfall over the country as a whole for the period 1951-2000 is 89 cm. IMD has a well-established early warning system for monitoring and warning of severe weather events and associated heavy rainfall. The rainfall recorded during the month of June this year for the country as a whole is 145.4 (mm) against long period average (LPA) value of 163.6 mm (11% below normal). The rainfall recorded during the month last year was 189.0 (mm) (16% above normal). The state-wise rainfall Departure for the month of June-2015 and June-2016 given in Annexure-I.
