India Declares itself Free from Avian Influenza (H5N1)

The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare has declared India free from Avian Influenza (H5N1) from 5th September, 2016. India had notified outbreak of Avian Influenza (H5N1) on 09.05.2016 at Humnabad, Bidar district, Karnataka. There has been no further outbreak reported in the country thereafter. The HEFA would be jointly promoted by the identified Promoter and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) with an authorised capital of Rs.2,000 crore. The figures for indirect tax collections (Central Excise, Service Tax and Customs) upto August 2016 show that net revenue collections are at Rs 3.36 lakh crore which is 27.5% more than the net collections for the corresponding period last year. Till August 2016, 43.2% of the Budget Estimates of indirect taxes for Financial Year 2016-17 has been achieved.
