UDAN to promote Regional Connectivity

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) launched the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN in October, 2016, to promote regional air connectivity in the country including North Eastern region and creating additional infrastructure by revival of unserved and underserved airports/airstrips. The scheme has been finalized after extensive consultation with all the stakeholders including State Governments. The Central Government takes several decisions to facilitate farmers, small traders, Group ‘C’ Employees of Central Government including equivalent levels in the Defence and Para Military Forces, Railways and Central Public Sector Enterprises in the aftermath of the cancellation of the legal tender character of the old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes; also decides to reduce the limit of exchange of old Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- notes across the counter in banks from Rs. 4500/- to Rs. 2000/-with effect from 18th November, 2016.

Nuclear Power Generation in Country

The present installed nuclear power capacity in the country in commercial operation is 5780 MW. With the synchronisation of Kudankulam Unit-2 (KKNPP-2 1000 MW) to the grid in August 2016, an additional capacity of 1000 MW has been added. The unit is presently generating infirm power (non-commercial), and expected to commence commercial operation by the end of this year, which will enhance the present installed nuclear power capacity of 5780 MW to 6780 MW. The discussions in the meeting were focussed on resolving MAP cases pending for a long time and to achieve significant developments in Bilateral APA Process. The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was US$ 44.18 per barrel (bbl) on 16.11.2016. This was higher than the price of US$ 42.95 per bbl on previous publishing day of 15.11.2016. In rupee terms, the price of Indian Basket increased to Rs. 2994.45 per bbl on 16.11.2016 as compared to Rs. 2908.14 per bbl on 15.11.2016.
